Catching Up – Photos from Auckland

We spent a couple days in Auckland and had really amazing luck with things working out well (except for the baggage fiasco). The Volvo Ocean Race was in town, it’s the Auckland Arts Festival, we took a walking tour and our guide had some great suggestions that we followed up on (a night market and a great fish and chips place, to name two). We also tried our first AirBnB, which was a real highlight – Sarah’s place was lovely, but even more she was an excellent host. The photos below are a whirlwind snapshot of what we’ve been up to.DSC_1069

Auckland Harbor, where we went on a brief sailing loop on the little Omega boats. It was part of the Volvo Ocean Race festival village activities. This is a video Dustie took of the harbor: IMG_0351 (you have to download it for now; I still need to figure out how to embed videos. I should have asked Steve how to do this 🙂DSC_1074

  2. Did you bring Sebastien along to take those great pictures, or did you take them youself?

    • All by myself (though really, if there are any that are good, it’s probably dumb luck and the camera)! Sebastien is too big for my backpack anyhow, and he’d eat all the sweet treats I came across, leaving me to just eat veggies or something healthy 😉

SPEAKING of treats, I hope you will be happy to know that I finally got Frank this morning! I showed up at 10am, inquired if they thought Frank was going to show up, and upon hearing “Most likely, yes”, I asked for “All the balls except two!”. They laughed, and just as they finished packing my order, guess who showed up? Our dear Frank! As soon as he got through the door, he saw me, and said: “Oh no, please tell me you didn’t!”. I replied “Yup, yup I did!”. He laughed, and added that I won that battle, but not the war! BOOM! Now to share 17 balls with the crew…
